Project : This project will be the six project of IIWC taking place in Gentan village, Susukan Semarang (small city 3 hours from
Beside, in the afternoon and evening, the volunteers will have interaction and exchanges with the local youth and local people.
The main aim of the project is to encourage the students to speak and learn more about foreign language in this case English for their third language.
Work : The main work will be organizing additional English lesson for the children, other languages classes, games and cultural exchange with the students and local people, cooking exchange session with local mothers, skill development for the children, many more (ideas on activities for education theme will be very welcome)
Special remarks : The English level of the students and children as the target are varies, be ready to improvise your plan of organizing the lesson and be very creative, please promote more for reading habits and pay attention to the local customs and culture. Bring some information about your country, children story books, and games.
Location: Gentan village Susukan municipality, Semarang Central Java. This village is so beautiful surrounded by terraces of rice fields, mountain shadow in the distance and fresh air in the morning.

Project: Gedongsongo is one of tourist spots in
This project will be the sixth project organized there. Based on the last work camp evaluation, the volunteers will do the follow up of activities; education and sharing knowledge on garbage recycle, managing garbage dumping, other relevant environment activities.
The main aims of the camp are; to increase the awareness of the local people about garbage problem (especially non organic garbage) and to introduce them about recycle process.
Work: The volunteer will work in changing behavior activities of the local people toward their environment, recycle garbage, composting, introducing personal hygiene related to the environment condition, organizing additional English lesson and school visit, and playing games with children. There will be also possibilities of planting trees, making garden together with the local students for preserving and promoting healthy environment.
Special remarks: please bring any necessary information about garbage recycling and composting. Be very creative for additional English lesson, games and other activities for the children. Do remember to bring sun block and warm clothes since it will be very hot in the day time and very cold at night.
Location: Desa Candi Gedongsongo Ambarawa Central Java Indonesia. The volunteers can see the breath taken view from the top of the hill in Gedongsongo. The air is so fresh and the nature is still so pure for a relaxing day.

IIWC0803 / Demak Camp / Wonokerto village Central Java / 13/02-26/02 / Envi /18+/10vols
Project: Organized together with local people and the local regency of Demak, the volunteers will do activities related with environment and health. For your information, the local people of Demak have very unique way of life believing in a myth connected with using the water from the river that flows in the middle of the city. It is believed that they will get the blessing from the ancestor if they use the water from the river for their daily needs like bathing, washing and cooking. Still, the large use of chemical soap for washing dishes and clothes make the quality of the water decreasing. Also the habit of throwing garbage into the river makes the water condition even worse.
The volunteers will introduce about recycling and reusing garbage to the local people, visiting the local school for environment education and cleaning river together with them.
The main aim of the activity is to increase the awareness of the local people about healthy environment and life.

Project : Together with one of the orphanages in Pamekasan East Java, this workcamp will be the second project organized with the theme of orphanage. There is a slightly different idea about the children who live in the orphanage in
In this project, the volunteers will feel the daily life of the children in the orphanage and share the time with them.
The aim of the project is to get to know daily life of the orphan children, helping out with their daily needs, helping out with their daily studies, skill development activities and capacity building for the children.
Work: we will organize some additional English lesson for the children, skill development (making bracelet, cookies, post card, etc) games and cultural exchange, gardening, etc.
Special remarks: project for children; please prepare your big smiles. It will be very nice if you can bring some small toys, candies, origami papers, many creative ideas for games and plays. Story books will also very welcome.

Project: this project will be organized with children in coastal area, in one of the fisherman villages of north
The volunteers will introduce and promote more about personal hygiene and how to maintain it to the local children and local people. Changing behavior and campaign about clean environment and personal health will be also done here.
Aims of this project are to increase the awareness of the local people to keep their personal health and environment as well as to improve the personal health condition of each individual living there.
Work : volunteers will do behavior changing activities for the local people toward their environment and personal hygiene especially children, organizing additional lessons for the children, cultural exchanges, school visit and club activities.

Project: This project will be the first project of IIWC taking place in Senjoyo village, a village in hills with beautiful view around. For junior and senior high school students, this place is famous as a camping or tracking place. The beautiful view, natural water flows from the mountain and fresh air can be very attractive for people to visit.
But the awareness of both the local people and the visitors to keep the environment is still too low. It is quite common for people to throw garbage into the river or everywhere. The impact is quite bad; the quality of the water decreasing and soon the place will turn into small plastic mountain.
Together with the local people and schools, the volunteers will organize some activities related to the environment like school visit for increasing the awareness of the local students to keep their surrounding clean, games and competition on environmental issues, cleaning the surrounding together with visitors and local people, etc.
The main aim of the work camp is to increase the awareness of the local people and visitors to keep the environment clean.
Work: school visit for environment education, green foster parents, cleaning river together with the local people, picking garbage in the public spot together with local students and visitors, competition and games on environmental issues.
Special remarks: the place is located in a high hill, the temperature is quite cold at night and cool in the day time, please bring warm clothes and some information about environment education for small children, fun games and competition on environmental education.

Project: preserving natural diversity and sea shore from the abrasion because of no more mangrove and too strong waves from the ocean will be the main focus of the camp. This project will be the second project organized by IIWC in answering the needs of preserving the coastal side of
The aims of the camps are to initiate the project of protecting the sea shore, increase the awareness of the local people and the fisherman to protect their environment as well as their future.
Work: Planting mangrove, mapping the mangrove conservation area, environment education to local people and children, school visits for environment education and Olympic Games for environment.
Special remarks: Very hot and less hygiene condition of poor coastal area, be ready with sun block and sun burnt. Bring some ideas for environment education (especially about mangrove and how to take care of it) and Olympic games for environment education for small children aged from 6-12 and adult.

Project: The project will be held in Nasyirul Ullum orphanage. This will be the second project organized together with Nasyirul Ullum orphanage. Nasyirul Ullum is a muslim orphanage accommodating not only children without parents but also needy children whose parents could not afford for their formal education. Poverty is a main reason why these parents entrust their children under the education of the orphanage. In this project the volunteers are expected to share happiness, loves, and cares with them.
The main aim of the camp is to get to know the daily life of orphan children in order to have nice and meaningful relation with them then to share love and happiness together.
Work: Volunteer will teach/ assist/ help the children with skill development: handicrafts making (bracelets, origami, saving box from recycle materials, etc). Other works can be foreign language class, especially English, with possible and creative methods and approaches such as games, songs, quizzes, etc. Volunteers can also arrange cultural exchange, gardening, sport activities, making wall magazine, etc.
Special remarks: Project with children; please prepare your big smiles, toys, candies, and origami paper, many ideas of games and plays, also interesting activities for children. Story books are also welcome. Very basic and simple life of Indonesian Moslem traditional orphanage. It will be very interesting and challenging activities with very attentive and enthusiastic children.

Project : Karimun Jawa island is very beautiful sea side with many coral reefs and fish protected by National Natural reservation agency. The expansion of tourism and the social changing of the local people, bring some bad effects to the natural condition. In cooperation with the government natural preservation agency, volunteers will do the environment education for the elementary students as well as other preservation actions like cleaning the beach, helping the preservation of sea turtle and eagle (if it is possible by volunteers because usually expert is needed), snorkeling and identifying the sea source that can be used as the material of environment teaching to the students.
The main aim of the camp is to increase the awareness of the local people and youth to keep their environment as well as the natural resource there.
Work : school visit for environment education, games for environment education, cleaning beach with students and local people around, some preservation action, snorkeling, and other activities related to environment education.
Special remarks : Very beautiful sea side and view, please stick on the schedule planned (volunteers tent to disappear during the project). Please be on time in the meeting point because the boat sails only once a week and impossible to arrange second departure, also do not forget your bathing suits, hat and very strong sun block. The main aim of the camp is to help the local government to reconstruct the temple as well as to increase the awareness of the local youth to take active participation to preserve the world heritage.
Work: helping the construction and restoration of the temple, discussion with the local youth about world heritage and how to preserve it, study session about world cultural heritage together with local school and universities.
Special remarks : the reconstruction work basically will be done by experts with special background of archeology, the volunteers will mainly help with the moving of the materials like stones, cements, etc. Please be ready for manual hard working. Bring some information about world heritage and be ready for campaign about preserving world heritage. Very hot sunny days, please be ready for sun burnt. J

Project: This work camp will be the first project organized by IIWC in cooperation with one of handicapped children institutions in Surabaya East Java. The volunteers will promote the children rights, better recognition of their existence in the society (this is sad that the fact in the society, the handicapped children are considered as burden rather than as children with different potential), skill development and have a good time with the children.
The main aim of the project is to increase the awareness of the society about the rights of the children, increasing their skills (simple applicable skills will be preferable).
Work: skill development of the children like drawing, coloring pictures, making post card, bracelet (based on their condition), organizing one performance and exhibition in the end of the camp to give the children space to show their different abilities.
Special remarks : the children need special treatment and care from the volunteers, big heart and smiles are needed, many ideas about games and performance also needed J

Project: The second project for the street children organized in
This camp is organized to help the street children with the skill development so hopefully volunteers and children can create interesting activities in the shelter that makes the children stay longer in the shelter. The idea of creating these activities is to reduce the time spent on the street. Street is dangerous for the children, so more time spent in the shelter will be better for the children.
The second aim is to increase the skill of the street children so that they do not only beg and ask money form others. It will be nice if they have skill that finally will lead them to better job and life in the future. Or at least they can be independent with the skill they get.
Work: Skill development in the shelter, language lessons, club activities like singing, music, drawing, etc, personal health teaching, as well as cultural and games exchange activities.
Special remarks: Be ready with many ideas of games, plays, easy and applicable skills for the children. Bring some info of personal health material like how to brush teeth, washing hands, cutting nails, etc. Story books, cnadies, toys, origami papers, etc will be very interesting for the children. Project: In cooperation with the local library of Blora, the volunteer will run some activities of English competition, games and cultural exchange with local people, organizing bazaar and competition for Independence Day also organize cultural night. Last year project was highly appreciated by the local government, local people and the involvement of the local people was so nice. The aims of the camp is to increase the reading habit of English among the local students, encourage them to learn more as well as to learn Indonesian culture by joining the festival for Independence Day.

The main aims are to increase the skill of the street children, create activities that will attract the children so that they spend more time in the shelter than in the street, Giving the children other opportunity to make living rather than going to the street.
Work: School visits, skill development for the children, teaching personal health and sanitation, games and cultural exchange, charity activities to help the development of children community center there.

Project: this is the second project of the year for Mangrove planting and maintenance; preserving natural diversity and sea shore from the aberration because of no more mangrove and too strong waves from the ocean will be the main aims of the camp. This project organized by IIWC in answering the needs of preserving in Mangkang. This area is now in danger due to the abrasion of the sea, cutting mangrove by local people and heavy force from the river flows. Before, many kinds of fish and shrimps are living there, but now since the condition of the mangrove forest is getting worse, it is quite difficult to find the species there. Fisherman also needs to go further to the ocean to fish and it means much work they need to do to earn money.
The aims of the camps are to initiate the project of protecting the sea shore, increase the awareness of the local people and the fisherman to protect their environment and future.

Project: This annual camp is organized together with PKBI Kota Semarang. PKBI Kota Semarang is an NGO concerning with HIV/AIDS prevention action in
The main aims of the camp is helping out the staffs and volunteers of PKBI Kota Semarang in conducting the guidance and education for Sexual Transmitted Infection and HIV/AIDS, increasing the awareness of using condoms toward the clients, and to increase the bargaining power of the prostitutes so that the client have to use condoms for the transaction. One important emphasize of this camp is to increase the awareness of the prostitutes and the client to do VCT (test for HIV/AIDS).
